Just the News investigative journalist John Solomon stated that former President Barack Obama can now be compelled to testify before a grand jury and cannot invoke the Fifth Amendment because of protections previously granted by presidential immunity.
Once summoned before a grand jury, Obama would be required to testify under oath, Solomon said Wednesday evening. If he were to misrepresent or lie about any aspect of his official conduct, his presidential immunity could be forfeited from the moment the falsehood is made.
That single act, committed as a private citizen, could unravel the legal protections he previously enjoyed under the Constitution and judicial precedent, Solomon insisted.
On January 5, 2017, then-President Obama presided over a White House meeting where the FBI had just closed its investigation into incoming National Security Adviser Mike Flynn. According to Solomon, senior officials then crafted a plan: lure Flynn into an interview, catch him in a lie, and prosecute him for making false statements.
In fact, former FBI Director James Comey has admitted in open conversations in the past that he assisted in setting the trap, which has been confirmed through legal filings and other reporting.
Now, Solomon cautions, Obama could find himself facing a similar scenario—one he allegedly helped set in motion.
“I know President Trump has every right to be frustrated with him. I think President Trump’s analysis last week was right. ‘I think my immunity rule might protect him on the original charges,’” Solomon said on Real America’s Voice.
“That’s what most legal experts tell me — that that ruling is so sweeping, it will protect Obama for what he did in office. However, Barack Obama can now be summoned before a grand jury,” Solomon continued. “He cannot take the Fifth Amendment because he has immunity from prosecution. He’ll have to tell the truth.
“If he lies as a private citizen about what he did as President, he’ll no longer have that immunity,” Solomon claimed.
“And that is a trap that Obama is potentially facing. I want to say — the irony of that is significant, because on January 5, 2017, he presided over a meeting in the White House where the FBI had just cleared Mike Flynn of any wrongdoing,” the journalist continued.
“And they schemed in that meeting how they might be able to jam up Mike Flynn. They came up with the idea: ‘We’ll lure him into an interview, catch him in a lie, and then prosecute him that way.’ Barack Obama is now about to face a potentially similar situation — one he unfairly created for Mike Flynn,” he added.

Meanwhile, Democrats are urging Obama to stay out of the fray as Trump officials release documents accusing his administration of trying to “rig” the 2016 election.
Insiders within the party claim that appearances, such as Tulsi Gabbard’s at Wednesday’s White House briefing, aim to mislead the public.
“No matter how much Trump and Fox are trying to drag it up, the base is still tearing them apart on the Epstein documents, so no need to interrupt them punching themselves in the face,” said Democratic strategist Eddie Vale.
Gabbard on Friday released a trove of documents she claims prove the Obama administration fabricated the Russia interference narrative in 2016.
Trump quickly seized on the release.
“Look, he’s guilty. It’s not a question. You know, I like to say, ‘Let’s give it time.’ It’s there. He’s guilty,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “This was treason, this was every word you can think of.”
